God's Call to Evangelize
"Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature."
Something inside of us prompts us to put soul winning for Christ first and foremost in our lives. This is what Jesus meant when He said, "Wist ye not that I should be about my Father's business?"
This call from within gives one the same feeling that Peter and John had when they said, "We cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." [Acts 4:20] This call from within prompts all born-again Christians to win lost souls for Christ. This call is from God working through His Holy Spirit. This prompting is the reason for our preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ, inviting sinners to repent and believe in the one True God through His Son, Jesus the Christ. This is why we teach soul winning and plead with those saved to witness to others for Jesus.
We have a call from within: the call is from our LORD Jesus Christ---our call is to evangelize.
There is a call from without...
Daily we meet people from all walks of life who are filled with fear. They seem to have no rest or peace. In a person's state of helplessness the fearful seek answers unsure of where they may be found.
This same situation existed during the time of Jesus. As recorded in Matthew 9:36, "But when He saw the multitudes He was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd."
As surely as Jesus saw the need then, He reveals this need to us now as the call comes from across the street, across the town, across the nation, and across the world---from needy people in the street, in the home, in the shop, in the prison, and in the Church---for the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Jesus said unto His disciples, "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few." [Matthew 9:37] There is the call from congregations and pastors for help in these "fields". Jesus said, "Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest."
As we pray for labourers, there comes the call from without--the call to evangelize.
